
HANOI, March 15 Asia Pulse - The Majestic Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City has become the first State-owned hotel to receive a five-star rating by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The hotel, belonging to the Sai Gon Tourist Corporation, is the 10th five-star establishment in the city but the only one wholly owned and run by a Vietnamese company.
The Majestic, built in 1925, is one of the most profitable in the city. With 175 rooms, six restaurants and a bar, the hotel's average room occupancy rate is over 90 per cent with about 95 per cent being foreigners.
Majestic General Director Tao Van Nghe said that they were very proud to be the first Vietnamese company to operate a five-star hotel. "We believed that we could provide the best services and products to our customers in order to prove that Vietnamese managers are fully capable of operating international standard hotels", he said.
